Welcome to Ethus, an original fantasy setting with magic, dragons, and nine playable races. A forum based RP we've been an active community for well over a year. Our current storyline is quite developed but we have recently updated our current plots and are eager to invite in some new players.
An Old World through New Eyes
Heir of Ethus
These are difficult times. The Empress of the Ethian Empire has perished, leaving a Regent in her place. While there are heirs who could claim the throne, there are reasons to delay in naming one to be her successor. In the meantime, more heirs seem to be coming to light confusing matters. It also does not help that the Regent has brought her own niece forward as a potential successor. Play as an heir and rival to one of several existing heirs. Play as one of the three advisor's to the regent's 8-year-old niece. Play as a conspirator seeking to bolster the claim of one of the existing heirs. Create your own opportunities.
Genius Gone Wrong
A city controlled by the merfolk (not the Ethian Empire) has gained some power in the region while its neighbor has languished under poor management. In recent times, the city of Onise has become a haven for criminals of a new sort. A variety of drugs has reached the streets and a new sort of trade has found its way to the black markets. Bored, very creative students in the city of Vione's Academy has begun creating magical devices to be smuggled for profit, some of them with unexpected side effects, or dangerous effects. Smugglers, addicts, clever students, and those souls who dare stand against the corruption are all roles available for newcomers.
The Face of Worship
Not to be forgotten are the priests and priestesses of the land. The Temple of Balance, once predominated the region and now faces a number of threats. A dark cult has arisen in the empire, using a new name for an old gambit. Originating from predominantly Ethian groups, its members are making a grab for power that could very well have longstanding and longreaching effects. In Onise the followers of Beauty are making a bid for control over the city's oldest temple by converting and/or threatening priests of Balance. New players may find it fun to play a priest of any number of different factions, cultists, followers or surprised bystanders.
Most of all we like to let players develop their own plots and bring them to life. If you've never seen us before or you've known us in the past, stop in and have a look. We'd love to have you.
