Within the walls of Nexxus Labs, something awful is taking place. Children and teenagers are being mutated, their DNA combined with that of animals. While they gain new abilities, they must face horrible tests that the scientists put them through, and in many cases, the loss of the memories of their past lives. Some are content with this new life, grateful to the scientists for changing them and willing to do anything to please them. But the majority want nothing more than to break free from the lab and find what they can beyond it.
But escaping the lab is the least of their problems. Outside the walls of the lab, the experiments will face a new set of challenges. They must survive whatever way they can, and blend in with the rest of society. But they are also tracked by hunters-experiments who have agreed to work with Nexxus in exchange for certain privileges-and prowlers-highly intelligent animal hybrids of several predators. Will the experiments ever be able to find freedom?
