Niera swallowed the lump in her throat. it all made sense now. Kale was trying to keep the blood out of the wind. out of the air, where the sent would carry. to them. she gulped again and looked back at Kale. she could leave now and make it . but Kale would die. he would die because of a wound she had caused. " i'm not going to leave you here to die."

Kale couldnt believe it. this girl barely new him and she was willing to stay and die at his side. die. it was odd to think about. he wasnt afraid for himself, but something inside him was fighting what the rest was trying to accept. Niera. he wasnt going to let her get herself killed. finding his hidden reserves of strength , he forced himself to sit up. he reached out, pulled the dagger from Niera's belt and shoved it into the falmes. when it was hot he pressed it to his side. he let the pain fuel his anger and felt the change coming. he pushed Niera away and stood up a few feet away. he took a deep breath and thought wolf.
